Gridiron Prospect Tour:

For over 25 years, Gridiron has been a trusted resource for Prospective Student Athletes seeking college scholarships across multiple sports and levels. Whether it’s Women’s Basketball, Track, Grass Hockey, or Men’s Football, Soccer, and Volleyball, we’ve played a crucial role in the success of many athletes throughout the recruiting process.

With over 30 years of experience from multiple angles of the recruiting game, we’ve helped more than 90 athletes secure placements in NCAA Div 1, Div 1AA, Div 2, and Div 3 programs. Additionally, we’ve guided athletes to scholarships in NAIA, U Sports, Junior College, and Prep Schools in the U.S., ensuring they get the exposure and opportunities they deserve.

The Sure Thing

In sports—as in life—everyone seeks a "sure thing." Coaches are under immense pressure to build winning teams and keep their jobs, which is why they prioritize recruiting elite athletes with traits that can’t be taught. The rise of Prep School/Academy football in the U.S. reflects this reality, allowing coaches to scout and recruit players who are closer to a “finished product.”

Unfortunately, despite the talent and skill level of Canadian football players, the lack of high-end competition, football culture, and training infrastructure makes it difficult for U.S. scouts to recognize their potential. This is where the Gridiron Prospect Tour (G.P.T.) steps in.

Why G.P.T. Matters

The Gridiron Prospect Tour is designed to bridge the gap and provide Canadian football athletes with the chance to compete side by side with American players. We aim to accomplish five key objectives:

  • Prepare athletes for high-level competition against top U.S. talent.

  • Build a buzz around players to increase visibility and secure rankings with relevant agencies.

  • Put athletes in front of college scouts and coaches who are decision-makers in the recruiting process.

  • Demonstrate Canadian talent and preparedness in padded/non-padded ID camps, showcases, and team camps.

  • Help athletes assess their level of play and refine their game accordingly.

Back for This Year: Team Camp Play & Competition

One of our major additions this year is Team Camp play and competition, where athletes will experience hands-on coaching from The University of Idaho staff as a team. This invaluable opportunity allows players to develop their skills, gain direct feedback, and showcase their talent in an organized team environment—an experience that mirrors what’s expected at the next level.

Maximize Exposure to Coaches Across All Levels

In addition to showcasing talent to FBS & FCS coaches, many schools from multiple levels will be on hand throughout the tour, offering athletes more chances to connect with the right program for their skills and aspirations. Even better, this year every Division 1 campus we attend will have coaches on staff who are friends and colleagues of our coaching staff, ensuring athletes get direct mentorship and guidance from trusted connections in the field.

More Than Just Exposure—A Complete Experience

Beyond the competition, we are proud to say that in three years of running the tour, we have never had a behavioral issue of any type. We prioritize high-quality accommodations, meals, and nutrition, ensuring athletes have everything they need to stay fueled and focused throughout the experience.

Even if an athlete doesn’t generate a buzz for themselves this year, the opportunity to catch a coach’s eye is always present—whether through performance, attitude, or work ethic. Most importantly, every participant will return home as a more technical and competitive player, better prepared for the upcoming season and future recruitment.

Proven Results

Last summer, 14 athletes participated in the Gridiron Prospect Tour, gaining invaluable experience against higher-level opponents. This not only prepared them for competition but led to outstanding performances in the 2023 BC High School Football season, with 10 of them earning prestigious accolades:

AAA Overall MVP & Provincial All-Star Running Back – Jaxon Allan (Lord Tweedsmuir)  AAA Defensive MVP & Provincial All-Star Defensive Line – Ryder Kusch (Seaquam)

Michael Spencer - Head Coach

Currently the Co-Defensive Coordinator and DB Coach for the Langley Rams,
Coach Spencer managed to carve out a University football career largely due
to versatility. A Defensive Back by nature, he spent time in high school playing
Receiver, Tight End, Linebacker, and every position in the Secondary. A
graduate of Centennial Secondary, he spent one year on the Langley Rams,
followed by two years at Bishop’s University in Quebec, before returning home
to play two years for UBC, playing DB as well as Outside Linebacker. He
joined the Seaquam Secondary staff in 2019 before being hired at Simon
Fraser University in January 2020. He spent 2 years at SFU first as the LB’s
Coach and then as the RB’s Coach & Assistant Director of Football
Operations, before choosing to return to the high school level as the
Defensive Coordinator at Seaquam. Coach Spencer has a vast knowledge of
the recruiting process, having been on both sides of it (player & coach) as well
as an understanding of how recruiting works at different levels (high school,
junior, university transfer etc...). His favorite parts of being a coach are helping
players get recruited, as well as increasing their awareness and football IQ.
